The past was wrapped as a blessing
I didn’t know that then though
I just found out when it was handed to me
Just a few months ago
It came wrapped in history
& tied with a mystery
Had I known then what I know now
I could have saved my soul the heartache
of a lost love that was never mine to begin with

Oo I like that one, so melancholy and something we can all relate too. The history/mystery coupling is the most perfect bit of wordage I have read today.
